In 2009, I embarked to Tanzania with a mission to have an impact. Little did I know this would become the core identity I have today--a Swahili-speaking engineer turned entrepreneur.
Until 2017, I lived and worked in Tanzania, delivering life-improving solar lanterns, clean cookstoves, and agricultural tools to over 100,000 families before selling my company to Sun King and joining their leadership as VP of New Products to explore new product verticals to the field, such as pay-as-you-go solar water pumps, refrigerators, laptops, water tanks, and smart phones.
With a desire to move faster, in 2020, I joined OffGridBox, working across DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania powering health centers and small businesses in remote and vulnerable communities.
Today I focus on life in Zanzibar, as that is where I've decided to call home as my baby starts to spread her wings. When I'm not working on Offgrid Zanzibar (stay tuned for its launch!), I'm focused on building accountability in how we solarize critical services for healthcare. I'm excited to grow my networks with philanthropic and development agencies, especially in pushing the agenda to get more women skilled in leading the energy transition.
